Day 12 6/03

It has been a while since we all met up in Hart Hall 206. We went over a few blogs since it has been a while. The professors were discussing where to eat lunch, at the mention of Prospect Park Krista and I looked up at each other and smiled. I was excited to get another chance to play on the playground.  Before heading out Krista and I went to get the lunches. I am sick of getting Sugar cookies, so I came up with the bright idea to switch mine and Krista’s cookies with someone who had Chocolate. Sadly our plan was foiled when no one had chocolate chip.

Our first stop was the Ironworks, this could have been an interesting stop but was ruined by our sexist tour guide. He made a comment, after the guys wife came up with a good idea, it was along the lines of women having a Uterus AND a brain. After that I could tell I wasn’t the only one frustrated with the guide. He also kept saying “it’s because I have the Y chromosome”, I wanted to comment and say “Really wow I didn’t know you had a Y chromosome that must be because of my Uterus I didn’t know such a thing”!!! (If you haven't noticed I tend to be a vey sarcastic person) Due to the sexist guide the rest of the tour was ruined I stopped listening to him. When he told Krysti to hit the bell like a man I took that opportunity to take my hit and hit it like a women, and I hit it hard. I showed him! Although two things that caught my attention was the big red button, I was so tempted to press it. Also, there was a map that actually had my hometown on it (because it is located near the Erie Canal). Besides that I did not like the tour! Once we were outside we all began discussing how much we disliked the guy. We then all agreed that if Leigh Strimbeck was there she would not have held back, she defiantly would have lectured that guy.  After this ‘fun’ time we headed to Prospect Park for lunch.

At the park we all found a nice spot to sit in the shade. Some of us found a nice spot under our tree, to enjoy lunch. After eating and chatting it was time to play on the playground. We started on the Merry-Go-Round (points for Precious not hitting her arm this time), then moved to the swings. However after a while we decide to cool off in the fountain. At first we just stuck our feet in but then Krista and I decided to run through. There many people at the park including a woman and her boy who were at the fountain. The mother told us her boy had Asperger’s, and I told her my older brother had Autism. So Krista and I talked to her for a while. The little boy was adorable, it makes me more excited for my career choice. I am majoring in Psychology and hope to someday work with children with disabilities. I don’t care if people call my major easy, that isn’t the reason behind me doing it. My reason is I love working with kids with disabilities, I love seeing the joy on their face when they accomplish a task they have been working on (I saw a lot of this at my internship). When it was time to leave we said our goodbyes. As we were pulling out Pamela noticed that Andor had left his box lunch on the roof of his car, so when he drove away it fell off. This only meant one thing, that when we saw him next we were going to tease him for it.
Andor finds out about the box

Our next stop was the Shaker house. Before the beginning of our tour we were given a
little background of the Shakers. Inside there was a cat, the cat was very distracting. Our guide was an Alumni of Sage (and a fellow Blue Angel), she said the men and women were completely segregated. The Shakers were not allowed to marry or to have kids, I thought maybe that’s why the Dinosaurs went extinct not because of some meteor but because they were all Shakers.  After the tour we went to the cemetery that was nearby, because the founder of the Shakers was buried there. As we drove back to Sage Krista, Precious, and I talked about how excited we are for our trip to the city and that we defiantly need to eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp. I can not wait for our week in New York, maybe we will see some famous (fingers crossed), hopefully someone from supernatural!
